Everytime I've ever made boiled eggs, they've always ended up with that green ring around the yolks (which is harmless but doesn't look the greatest especially for deviled eggs). I didn't know there was a way to avoid that. I clipped these directions out of a magazine (can't remember which one) and following these directions made absolutely perfectly boiled eggs!
For perfect hard-boiled eggs, place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan, then add cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch. Bring to a boil over high heat. Remove immediately from heat, cover and let stand for 15 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer eggs to a bath of ice cold water (I added tons of ice cubes) and let them sit for 5 minutes.
