Popeye's Chicken

Last night I had Popeye's chicken for the first time. I've been hearing the hype about their fried chicken for years, and finally one of their restaurants opened up here. A lot of people say it's better than KFC. Well I have to say I was not impressed at all. We got both the mild and the spicy chicken and neither was really spectacular. The batter was so thick it was hard to bite through in places, but more than anything it just didn't have much flavor and had that deep fryer taste to it. I like Kentucky Fried Chicken so much better. I wouldn't buy Popeye's again unless maybe I was overseas and desperate for some american fried chicken. I don't understand what the hype is.
