Chicken Ala Crescents

Here is how I make Chicken ala Crescents, a recipe that originally came from a good friend.

  • 5 oz bag croutons, crushed well
  • 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
  • 3 T butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp chives
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 small to medium sized boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded or ground in the food processor (you could also substitute canned chicken)
  • 1 (4 oz) can mushroom pieces & stems, drained
  • 2 (8 oz) can crescent rolls, butter flake preferred
  • 5 T butter, melted

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, 3 T butter, seasonings; mix well. Stir in chicken and mushrooms. Separate crescent triangles. Place spoonful of mixture in center (I use the small pampered chef scoop for this) and fold up around mixture, sealing as much as possible. Dip in the melted butter and roll in crushed croutons. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and baked 15-20 mins. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Notes: One time I made these I added some shredded cheddar cheese to the filling, and WOW. They were so good! You can easily adjust the filling ingredients to your tastes. Next time I was thinking of leaving out the mushrooms and maybe adding some chopped broccoli and minced onions or something like that. I also think you could use breadcrumbs for the coating if you didn't have the crushed croutons.

This sounds similar to my chicken packets recipe! Hank loves it! I use the cream cheese with chives and onions added and then basically add some milk and the shredded chicken.
