Goulash

Here is my recipe for goulash. I think it might be one of those things you only like if you grew up eating it.

1 lb elbow macaroni, cooked al dente then rinsed under cold water
1/2 to 1 lb italian ground beef or ground italian sausage, or a mix of both, your preference sweet or hot
1 small onion, minced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 14 oz can diced tomatoes with juice
approx 20 oz of spaghetti sauce of your choice (I use leftover homemade)
1 T sugar
pepper

Brown italian sausage in a skillet along with green pepper and onion until meat is fully cooked. Add garlic towards the end and cook about 3 or 4 mins more. In a large bowl mix macaroni, italian sausage mixture, diced tomatoes and spaghetti sauce. Add about 1 T sugar or to taste, along with black pepper. Microwave individual servings until hot.

This is somewhat different than how my grandmother made it. I think she used 1 lb ground beef and no spaghetti sauce. There are many variations on goulash.

Here is a recipe for goulash that I thought I'd like to try sometime.

My mom used tomato soup and she put cabbage in hers. There are times when I make it.
