I am trying to get away from using processed ingredients like shortening, so I was interested in finding a good chocolate chip recipe that used butter, not shortening. I tried this recipe from America's Test Kitchen for Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies. I have to say, these were totally incredible! I only had light brown sugar so I added about a teaspoon of molasses to simulate dark brown sugar. I don't think I'll try any more chocolate chip cookie recipes after finding this one. It was THAT good. When I read the recipe I thought the browned butter step was probably going to be unnecessary, but I was completely wrong. This gave them incredible rich flavor. One of the best cookie recipes I've made. Can't wait to make these again! *Note: I used milk chocolate chips as that is what I prefer.
P.S. It would be fun to do a tasting like this blog did.

I will have to try these, though probably when caleb is gone so I won't hurt his feelings.
