I made some frozen fish filets and fresh cut fries last night, and wanted some tartar sauce to go along with them. Wiscoy-Rossburg's Fire Department does all you can eat fish frys on certain Fridays through out the year, and they by far have the best fish fry I've ever had. I love their tartar sauce, and tried to replicate it last night. What I made came out okay, but not exactly like Wiscoy's. I didn't measure anything but here is what I threw together, after looking at several recipes online:
mayo
lemon juice
dash yellow mustard
sweet pickle relish (lots)
dill pickle relish (small amount)
pinch dried onion flakes
pinch garlic powder
pinch sugar
salt
pepper
It was okay but I added way too much lemon juice. I should have done just a dash. And I should have done only sweet pickle relish and not dill pickle relish. I will try making this again with some tweaks. I may leave the lemon juice out altogether.
