Baked Ziti

Posting this here so I can remember what exactly I did next time I make it.

12 oz ziti, boiled in salted water until "half cooked"
1 jar spaghetti sauce (I like spicy Sicilian style)
1 cup shredded Italian cheeses
butter
fully cooked sliced sausage or meatballs

Spray ceramic 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Cook ziti until barely starting to soften (i.e. cook half way). Mix with spaghetti sauce. Put half in the pan, sprinkle with cheese, top with rest of pasta. Top with additional shredded cheese and pats of butter. Bake uncovered at 425 about 20-25 mins. Next time I will add about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water to the mixture before baking. And I will leave the noodles even less boiled before I mix them with the sauce. Over all this was great. Would be good with some cottage cheese mixed in I think. Maybe layered with ground sausage or ground beef with cottage cheese.
