I can't believe I haven't posted this yet. This is Grandma Delores's Christmas cookie recipe as given to me by my mother-in-law. Also a tip, to help make or keep cookies soft, add a slice of bread to the container you are storing the cookies in.
2 c sugar
2 c milk
2 c oleo (margarine)
1 tsp salt
3 eggs
1/2 tsp anis oil (optional, my mother-in-law does not use it)
1 oz hartshorn (ammonium carbonate) dissolve in milk
Mix all ingredients together. Mix enough flour in until you can roll out the dough. Bake until done. I think around 10 minutes.
Here is more info about hartshorn.
Here is the same recipe my mother-in-law sent in an email to a relative.
anise (Christmas) cookies
2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
2 cups shortening (
or margarine)
1 tsp salt
3 eggs
1oz Hartshorn (ammonium
carbomnate)
1/2 tsp anise oil (optional)
Flour (lots & lots)
Fix
like any other sugar cookie recipe and you will have a lot of them
Cookie
recipe passed down for years though my dads side of the family
